INTRODUCTION
The SM2202 Rack Mount Kit bas been designed as an aircraft installed mounting mechanisrn for the Skymap II and Tracker II products. The fixing system has been vibration tested to ensure its suitability for helicopters and fixed wing aircraft with reciprocating and turbine engines. The basic kit is suppued with a SMB/BNC adapter and the power connector adapter, which comprise a D type to circular size 11, 9 way circular plug which mates with a size 11 shell, flanged socket in the back panel.

ASSEMBLY
Choose a suitable location for the Skymap II/Tracker II on the aircraft panel or coaming. The rack assembly has been designed to allow the removal of the Skymap 11 from the aircraft, however if frequent removal is required it is recommended that the 162x116 dimensions are used for the panel cut-out rather than the 158x112 dimensions. Attachment to the aircraft and removal is via the four pinlatch fasteners provided on the Skymap II mounting panel. Electrical connections have been engineered for quick disconnect from the unit.

NOTE:Ensure that it does not obstrtuct the view of the primary flight instruments, but is positioned so that it is visible from the normal Pl location during a normal instrument scan.
Remove the antenna button from the rear of the Skymap IK/Tracker II back cover (C). Install the ballnuts (D) provided in the two holes in the back cover, using the M3x6 countersunk screws (B) provided in the kit.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that for permanent installations Loctite 242 or eguivalent is used.
Attach the rear mounting panel (J) to the aircraft structure via the 6 off 4.2mm diameter holes (3 holes either side) provided, depth details are shown on the schematics. Connect up all the electrical connections to the rear mounting panel.

NOTE 1: It is recommended that M4 Socket cap screws and self-locking nuts are used to secure the rear mounting panel.
NOTE 2: When supplied from the aircraft power a lA fuse/circuit breaker is adequate to protect the system. (Maximum Power uptake at turn on is 750mA, 450mA continuous operation with backlight on.)
NOTE 3: The external aerial should be a 26 dB gain teardrop type (e.g. Comant CI 405-8) the cable R058U to obtain optimum receiver performance.
Re-attach the back cover of the Skymap II/Tracker II, ensuring that a suitable set of batteries are installed to maintain the memory back up systems. These batteries should be inspected periodically to ensure that there is no leakage. Attach the power/data lead and the antenna cable to the Skymap II/Tracker II and clip the unit to the Panel Mount (E). Locate the pinlatches (G) loosely in the floating receptacles mounted in the rear mounting panel (J) and ensuring that the cables are free apply firm and even pressure to the front face of the Skymap II, the unit should move rearwards approximately 10 mm prior to bottoming on the receptacle's, once bottomed then release the pressure and ensure that the latches have engaged.
Once installed, if the equipment is to be powered from the aircraft power supply install the placards (L) provided local to the Skymap II/Tracker II.
Check that the system functions correctly.
